Times running out

I seen this picture on facebook and the caption really got to me. Got me thinking about my grandparents and how much I miss them. Then it reminded me of a movie I watched years ago called ‘In Time’ where time was the currency of life and the rich could live forever not worrying about how much time they had left while the poor spent their days desepently trying to earn more time before their time ran out. This is an interesting concept and although science fiction, it is not entirely unrelatable to our current economic inequalities ie. life expectancy difference between rich and poor. I know myself that I am guilty of taking these benefits for granted but I just wonder if like the movie we had a ticking clock would we live our lives differently and take better care of our health etc. And why then if we know what’s good and bad for us do we choose to ignore it when so many people don’t have this choice to make.
